A frail elderly woman, who lives alone in the village of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in the northwestern province of Punjab, has been painted by an artist for her 70th birthday.
Her family is very proud of the painting, which is titled ‘Too Old’.
“She is still too old to paint but I am happy that she is able to paint for the 70th time,” said her daughter, Asma.
Her mother, a retired doctor, also has a large portrait of her as a young girl.
The artist, Mohammad Shoaib, told The Express Tribune that he had done a number of paintings of the deceased, including of his grandmother.
He has been painting the painting for his 80th birthday in March.
“She was very proud to paint her last painting,” he said.
“She was not too old.
She was still frail, but she was very healthy.
I think she would have liked to paint a lot more than her 70-year-old years,” he added.
The widow, who is not a painter herself, has painted for the past 70 years and was still very frail, said her husband, Asad Ali.
“When she died, I told her to take care of her painting.
She had a lot of health problems, and she had lost her eyesight,” he told The Times of India.
